Fall City Cherry Trees

Every Spring, downtown Fall City showcases its vibrant cherry trees against the beautiful backdrop of the Snoqualmie River. For over 50 years, residents and visitors alike have enjoyed this picturesque scenery. Fall City is often included in lists of "Best Places To Find Cherry Blossoms," like a KOMO news story of 2023, and an article in 425 Magazine in 2025.

The cherry trees were initially planted in 1972 as part of Fall City's 100th Birthday celebration, donated by the local Business Professional Association as a beautification project that also included the "Welcome to Fall City" sign located near the bridge.

In 1992, the cherry trees were in bad shape, and the Business Professional Association again led the efforts by creating a community fundraiser program, Adopt A Tree. In June, the community celebrated the success of the program with a reception at the Colonial Inn. However, success was in jeopardy as people realized beavers were gnawing the newly planted trees. Problem solved and trees saved when protections were added to the base of the young trees.

Through the years, the cherry trees remain an important part of the town, being cared for by the Fall City Community Association and Fall City Parks District. And each winter, the trees are once again a highlight as they are all decorated with white lights which reflect off the river during the long, dark months.
