Child Island April 2014

This amazing miniature children's book, less than two inches tall, was among many treasures in a folding writing desk donated in 2011 by Suzanne Badten. The materials were from the family of Andrew Jackson (Jack) Bush and Hattie Amanda Thomas Bush, who came to Fall City about 1880. Background material from Jack's History of Fall City.

The book had no title page, but Google helped identify it (see pdf) as one of four books written in 1863 by "Aunt Laura." Volunteers Denise Duvall and her daughter worked together to transcribe its 61 small pages… one holding the fragile book and reading while the other typed. transcription

Many other special items donated by Suzanne are discussed in a 2011 Newsletter Article.
